Our Mission

Weaving Together a Network of Support

Every year, hundreds of individuals return to Birmingham after incarceration — many with nothing. No housing. No identification. No healthcare. No plan.

The Birmingham Re-Entry Alliance brings together ten partner organizations to provide comprehensive, wraparound support. Rather than creating a new organization, we harness the strengths of existing nonprofits, faith groups, and government agencies to collaboratively serve our community's most vulnerable members.

"Our community cannot separate reentry from recovery. Effective reentry can be achieved with the implementation of an ongoing, evidence-based recovery plan."

Success Stories

Real People, Real Transformation

John R.'s Story

A U.S. Navy veteran, John was released in June 2025 and required to wear an ankle monitor and undergo drug testing. Through the Alliance, he received housing at Three Hots and a Cot and found employment at the VA.

With a substance use history dating back 30 years, John has now achieved the longest period of being drug-free in his life. He was recently offered a full-time position as house manager.

He is thriving.

Jodi's Story

Jodi received substance use treatment, transportation, identification, and extensive case management from the Alliance. She moved into her very first apartment as a result of Alliance services. Today, she works full-time as a delivery driver and is enrolled in GED classes.
